KEAN TO CHALLENGE IN PRODRIVE RACING AUSTRALIA FORD

08 | 02 | 2017 - KEAN TO CHALLENGE IN PRODRIVE RACING AUSTRALIA FORD

Prodrive Racing (Australia) welcomes a new face to its championship-winning Dunlop Series line-up with Josh Kean joining the team alongside reigning champion, Garry Jacobson for the 2017 season.

The opportunity to challenge the field in a competitive, championship-winning car was a drawcard for the 23-year-old, who joins the team following a two-year stint at Brad Jones Racing.

"I'm pumped. I'm really impressed with the whole operation with everything being done in-house and the professional way these guys run," said Kean.

"I think that this is the next step. These guys are proven; they've done it all in the last few years. It's the right opportunity, in the right car, with the right bunch of guys and it's the way to go with my career so I'm really excited.

"The guys here are a great bunch which makes me feel good, makes me feel at home. I'm really stoked about getting here and getting the car right and going on a test day on the 22nd of February.

"My livery this year will look pretty sick on the FG X. My mates at Wynn's have made the move with me and we're all really excited to be here show and everyone the new look at the test day."

After visiting the Campbellfield-based workshop, the South-Australian will return to take part in the team's training camp alongside Prodrive Racing's full driver line-up and crew.

Joining the team on the trip will be 2016 Dunlop Series Champion Garry Jacobson who returns for his second year with PRA.

"It's really great to be back. I felt it was important to get one more year under my belt with this team and in this equipment before progressing into the main game," said the 2016 champion.

"There's still a lot to learn and the series is becoming even more competitive so spending another year with these guys will be really important before I take that next step in my career."

Prodrive Racing Team Principal Tim Edwards is confident the team's new-look Dunlop Series duo will be competitive once again this year.

"Josh is a competitive guy who enjoys being out on the track and that kind of attitude is a really important part of the culture here,” Edwards said.

“He's been there or there abouts in the last few years and like Garry did last year, I think he will be able to step up and give the guys at the front of the field a run for their money.

"The test day will obviously be important for him to acclimatise to the Ford and to our setups but having Garry there to bounce off will be beneficial as well. I'm confident he'll settle in quickly and be ready to go by Clipsal.

"It's fantastic to have Garry back on board for 2017 as well. His skill will only improve this year and I expect to see him back up at the front this season."

Kean and Jacobson's liveries will be revealed at the team's Dunlop Series test day at Winton Motor Raceway on the 22nd of February, before their season kicks off at the Clipsal 500.
